Here we have a rare piece of artwork from the early 20th century depicting the Father of America, George Washington! In this antique paiting, George is poised for a presidential portrait. The paper backing behind the portrait features newspapers from 1915; so we suspect the age of the painting to be even older than that. The cardboard backing has an inscription, best deciphered as 'Carrie Fiori Donofry Dulce Brockett to Wally Tod'. We believe this was once owned by members of the Tod family who traveled on the Titanic, with some members who survived the legendary catastrophe. The painting appears to be in excellent vintage condition, with no apparent stains, tears or defects. The frame does show signs of wear due to its old age. Artist unknown, origin est early 1900s.
