Here is a fascinating find! This is a set of two (2) framed, black and white, antique maps. Each gold frame measures approx. 15" x 13". The maps themselves measure approx. 7.5" x 5.5". The maps show parts of Asia, with detailed notes and connotations. Per the label on the back of one of the frames, "In 1604 Joducus Hondius bought the plates of Gerard Mercator's Atlas. Hondius added about 40 maps to Mercator's original number and from 1606 onwards published enlarged editions under Mercator's name but with his own name as publisher... This particular map is from the 1607 edition." Both pieces appear to be in excellent vintage condition, with some minor signs of aging but no apparent defects.
